The Reader

So, there is a woman who does readings and leads a women's circle at The Shop. I heard really great things about her, and finally got to meet her on Friday. She left me feeling kind of leary of her though. I don't know what it was, but I felt unsettled after meeting her. We were introduced, we said hello, and then she kind of looked at me (in a funny way), and then asked "Are you okay?" I'm not sure why she asked that. I was really looking forward to going to the women's circle, but now I'm not sure if I'm going to check it out or not.

My new job

I started work at The Shop on Monday. I LOVE it! I work again on Black Friday and I find myself looking forward to going (even though in past years I haven't left the house on Black Friday).

The Shop isn't a metaphysical store, per se. But they do have a lot of metaphysical stuff: tarot cards, lots of goddess stuff, wands, candles, books, etc. They also sell a lot of jewelry, locally made art, bags, some clothes, gift cards. It's sort of a gifty store overall. (And here's a great part of it - I get a 20% discount.)

There is a women's circle that meets at the store every other Wednesday, so I am tentatively planning on going to the next one.

I think this will be a great job. :)

Tarot readings for cash

I am really really thinking about going into a side business for myself, doing tarot readings and chakra balancings for a price. Not sure how much though. Maybe $15? I know that tarot readings can be really expensive, and they have often been priced too high for me in the past. I think if I gave readings for a lower price, I might get more people to try it out.

Full Moon

M and D came over last night for the Full Moon. I did chakra balancings for both of them. M did Reiki on me. It was weird!! As she was scanning my body with her hands, it totally felt like an electric sensation running up and down my aura. And at one point my entire body flinched!

We also did a small thanksgiving ritual/spell. We each had 10 stones. We took turns putting one stone in at a time and saying something we are thankful for. The last stone we each put in is for something we wish to manifest in our lives during the coming lunar cycle.

In other news - I got a part time job at a store in The City. The store has quite a bit of metaphysical stuff, so I think I'll fit right in. :)

Practice with tarot

A couple months ago I went to Pagan Pride Day in The City. I got a tarot reading from a woman, and as we chatted, we discovered we were practically neighbors. So last night we finally got the chance to meet up at the local coffee shop and do readings for one another, just for fun. I had a good time, got to practice a spread I'd like to get better at, and kind of renewed my interest to study the tarot some more.

I have a hard time with the suite of wands. I think it's because I relate to the element of fire the least of all the elements.

Healing Yourself

KZ and I began working through some books by Louise L. Hay. From the discussion we had about it, I've decided that I'm going to try doing daily affirmations. I think I'll do it in front of my altar, light a candle, and use my meditation beads. Some things I need to work on: energy/motivation and money.

Yesterday I discovered the coolest little store EVER in the city. It's not a new age or witch store per se, but it does have lots of new age type stuff in it: books, tarot cards, goddess stuff, etc. I asked for an application and I am planning on turning it in today. I would love to work at this store! The enrgy upon walking through the door was awesome! It just felt welcoming and joyful - something not common on shopping trips. LOL.

Grandfather Mountain

Yesterday we went to the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is the first time I've truly been out in nature since we moved here in August. It felt wonderful! While my husband and in-laws were walking around, I stayed behind to just sit on a rock on top of the mountain and feel a connection with the Earth.

Anti-depressants and raising energy

I've read quite a few times online that there are some groups out there who won't let in new members if they are on anti-depressants. The reason being that the anti-depressants mess with brain chemistry (duh) and impede that person's ability to raise energy, or have their energy mesh with others, or something along those lines.

*sigh*

Really?

The thing is, the anti-depressants probably help make a person's brain work in a more normal fashion - which one would think would make them better able to function with a group.

I've been thinking about this topic lately as I just had my meds changed - and hopefully for the better! But I wonder if this will help me with my practice, or if I'll even notice a difference in this area of my life.
